Travelogue IV - Wednesday, 12/09/2009
A further detailed report by Jan Dehn RT 121 Husum for the blog:
We start with 650 parcels in the mountains. It's rainy. We go to several schools where we distribute the packets directly in the classroom. We are now well established and sorting the packages in age and sex works very well. We collect as from day to day experience of what we can do better. The landscape resembles the Alps: Brooks (full of garbage), cliffs, forests. It is mainly practiced by the forest industry. Here and there sawmills for timber. I try in vain to inspire Christian return freight. Today we are saved only on paved roads, gravel roads remain to us. Nevertheless, the ride is a little odd.
noon, we hit a place, where currently a ski lift will be built. The used snow cat will be waiting. The concrete for the lifts but driving a horse and carriage - Opposites everywhere.
evening we arrive healthy and safe Alba Iulia. We invite students of theology with the help of 20 all the remaining parcels in the garage of the charity. Many hands make quick end. The trailer is empty!
Caritas takes over the distribution of the packs on the ground in the next two weeks. From the idea that we can make it alone in three days, we had to leave quickly.
At dinner we are discussing some heatedly about improvement in the organization and logistics. In the end we decide to maintain our points in writing and to discuss with the convoy line. We agree that the convoy is right and important, and that the collection and transportation worked well to Romania. Here in Romania still needs some are being addressed. This is however not without personal commitment - that's clear!
morning it's back to Timisoara.
